An avid exploration of the craft has pulled my work in both functional and sculptural directions. I find inspiration in my frequent travels, love of art history, and an appreciation for natural forms. My work in clay is an attempt to embody the spirit of the places I have visited, pay homage to the art of the past, and capture the beauty and elegance of nature. Making, for me, has always been tied to learning. Whether taking a workshop or teaching a class my creative process feeds on community, the sharing of a passion, the exchange of ideas. These things keep me going. These things keep me making. I am currently pursuing an M.F.A. in Ceramic Arts at Hood College in Frederick, MD, where I also work as Graduate Studio Technician and Gallery Assistant for the Whitaker and Hodson Galleries. In addition to my work at Hood, I teach classes at a local arts center and am an active member of the Potters’ Guild of Frederick.
